My studio practice is highly influenced by my daily interactions. Through portraits, I am able to reconcile personal stories and allow others to feel less isolated, and more in tune with our similar trajectories as human beings. Figure centric paintings and female subjects tend to drive my musings on a canvas.

Drawing on site allows my mind to focus on nothing more than my sketchbook and my environment. It is my most valuable asset when it comes to keeping my practice lifelike, experimental, and authentic.

I work in many different mediums. Pieces of my sketchbook or snippets of paintings will appear in my graphic work. Drawings and photographs will turn into sculptures. My mixed media work allows me to combine techniques to combine layers of ideation into one piece, playing with typography, color, and humor.

Sarah Neil and Zach Litoff are designers, illustrators, and artists based in NYC and SF. Frustrated by long-distance critiques, we met in New Mexico with no set plan, just a shared respect for each other’s work and a curiosity about what we could create together.
Collaboration pushed our creativity further than working alone ever could. We filled each other’s gaps, challenged each other, and created a cohesive body of work. We’re inspired by our environment, and our creative force comes from connection—learning from one another and allowing our work to evolve through shared experience. Art, like life, is best when approached together.

Sarah Neil is a queer, female artist of color whose work explores the complexities of humanity through a sharp mix of seriousness and satire. She challenges viewers to confront societal pressures and personal insecurities– weaving humor, curiosity, and perspective into every piece.
Originally from the West Coast, she is a restless storyteller, sharing stories from her own life and leaning on her community for inspiration. As a self proclaimed artistic sponge– empathy and a good long conversation are her portals to success in her work.
